The US have for a while had RDs in store, it's great to see that Waitrose are trialing this in the UK. As more and more retailers are looking to add value to their bricks and mortar, its a clever move to bring people into store. Waitrose are charging for this service, but it would be great to see how retailers like Tesco or Asda could offer this service to their customers and help by guiding with healthy eating plans or providing advice on meals.
Nutritionists will soon be walking the aisles at Waitrose to help shoppers choose healthier food. The supermarket chain is hiring 100 advisers who can review customers’ shopping baskets and direct them to more nutritious alternatives. The first 11 will be in stores in the next six weeks, with the rest due to start by the end of the year.
